Blackbay's products are based primarily around a windows mobile handheld application and supporting server side infrastructure to meet the needs of the mobile worker.  This solution makes use of industry standard technologies primarily based on Microsoft products. 

SQL Server 2000 or 2005 is used as a data store on the server side, a thick client C++ MFC application is used on the handheld utilising SQL CE as a handheld database, C++ and C# .NET windows service applications and web services are used to provide interfaces to enterprise systems. 

Communications from server to handhelds utilises the UDP protocol to minimise data costs and uses many transport mechanisms such as GPRS, CDMA, WIFI, Ethernet, and Dialup for end to end connectivity.  Microsoft IDE development environments are used to develop applications using VC++, C++, ASP, VB.NET, C# .NET and XML.
