World Mail Americas 2010

Where: Hilton Miami, Florida
When: 23-35 Feb, 2010

The global recession has affected everyone in the mail and express business. Volumes are down; the pressure to reduce costs is unrelenting; and customers are no less demanding.

There are some signs that in the Americas region the worst may be over. There is even tentative talk of recovery later in 2009. By the time of the next World Mail and Express Americas Conference and Exhibition in February 2010 we must hope that the various ‘green shoots’ of recovery have become hardy growths, and that we are in an early post recession environment.

But life after the worst recession in decades is unlikely ever to return to what it was in 2007. In such a severe downturn companies and individuals change their behaviours in ways which can have a permanent impact. There is indeed ‘a new world order’ emerging which we ignore at our peril.

Take two examples specific to the mail and express industry:

 - The relatively gentle curve of the graph charting the long term decline in physical mail (particularly transactional items) in the face of quicker and cheaper electronic alternatives suddenly gets steeper as recession hit companies respond to a greater urgency to cut costs. Consumers are themselves less resistant to change in these circumstances. Once lost, that volume is gone forever in its traditional form. But are there ways in which postal companies can still gain commercial benefit?

 - In a recession shippers question even more than before the need to use relatively more expensive next day services when slower alternatives are seen as just as reliable and cheaper. What will it take to reverse the trend?

Everyone will be affected by this new environment—operators, vendors, suppliers, shippers, receivers, regulators, and associated industry experts.

These are the type of issues the 2010 Conference will address. World Mail & Express Americas has become the only annual event dealing with International & National post & parcel matters for the nearly 1 billion people in the Americas region, and provides the only real forum to bring all the key regional stakeholders together
Listen to how CEOs and other industry leaders are responding to the changed world. Benefit from global, regional and national perspectives. Debate with leading experts what needs to be done. Hear from vendors how they can help.
Network and learn from each other. And conduct business in a relaxed yet stimulating environment......

The conference has become the only annual event dealing with International & National post & parcel matters for the nearly 1 billion people in the Americas region, and is attended by the great and the good of the post, parcels and express industries worldwide.
