Scalable SuMo Platform Increases Benefits of Enterprise Mobility

Blackbay is seeing more and more enterprises realise the potential business benefits that can be achieved through the deployment of mobility solutions. Whilst the return on investment was not always clear in the past, mobility is now a strategic imperative with recent Aberdeen research showing significant increases in service margins (25%), improved productivity (13%) and considerable cost reductions for those implementing a mobility strategy.

Blackbay’s latest solution update, SuMo (Scale-up Mobility), enables organisations to achieve these results with a reliable and scalable solution that has the capability to connect 100,000 concurrent mobile workers in real-time and deliver over 1,300 transactions to the Microsoft SQL Database per second. This solution allows organisations to increase the capacity of data passing over the wireless connection in less time, this is essential when wireless coverage is not always available or is often overloaded.

SuMo also increases the reliability of mobile data solutions with system redundancy ensuring that if any component of the middleware product fails, the remaining components will share the load within the system until the that element is able to restart. This capability ensures little, or no, degradation to the overall operation. It is this reliability that has seen Blackbay deliver over 500 million transactions in the past year to our customers worldwide.

SuMo also provides significant capability improvements for those on their 3rd or 4th generation mobility solutions. Field staff that were once happy to simply manage their jobs now require real-time updates on their KPI’s, video training and elimination of all paper processes.

Now more than ever businesses should be concentrating on their core operations, improving customer service, and reducing costs. Blackbay is currently helping customers from across the supply chain and field service sectors to achieve these objectives. One notable example is Blackbay’s recent success with Royal Mail, who selected Blackbay’s SuMo platform, as part of a real-time mobility solution designed to improve customer service for Royal Mail’s tracked products. The solution is being deployed to over 25,000 Royal Mail delivery vehicles.
