Delivery Connect is designed to manage the movement of freight from the shipper to the end receiver, including scanning, proof of delivery (PoD), exception management, cross dock and in-depot activities through to job dispatch, customer service and reporting.

Delivery Connect is built on Blackbay's logistics application framework. The framework Mobile Workforce Management Software makes it easy for customers to hit the ground running with the deployment of pre-configured applications. However, Blackbay understands that one size does not always fit all. The new Mobile Workforce Management platform allows Blackbay’s customers quickly, within hours rather than days, to configure changes to Delivery Connect’s T&L applications ensuring that they meet specific business processes.

Blackbay’s logistics platform has been developed so that screens, process flows and logic are driven by configuration and can be deployed at runtime. Another important ease of use capability allows users quickly and seamlessly to switch between applications. This allows the use of hand held devices by employees carrying out different tasks, helping to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase the return on investment (ROI) driving overall benefit realisation. 

To ensure customers can deploy Delivery Connect applications on the mobile device of their choice, Blackbay’s new platform is mobile device agnostic. It delivers platform specific user interfaces (UIs) so applications can run on iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms delivering the same user experience, regardless of OS or device and irrespective of whether the device has been supplied by Blackbay’s customer, or is part of a BYOD approach.

Manifesting - Manifesting allows freight item grouping depending on requirements of total shipment. Drivers download their manifest to their handheld at the start of each day, followed by freight loading and scanning, ensuring correct freight to vehicle loading.

On Road - Delivery Connect helps manage all of the on road processes for the successful delivery and pick-up of freight. This includes Proof of delivery (PoD) including signature capture, PIN number, photo ID, photo and GPS location.

Route Optimization - Expect calculates and optimizes the taken route, given SLA's, drive times and onsite ETAs between delivery locations to provide a delivery time window.

Navigation - Commercial drivers know the main roads like the back of their hands. Local roads however, require local knowledge – avoiding low bridges and weight restrictions, or simply finding the correct delivery location in an estate or commercial building can all cause challenges. Navigate, through ALK, overcomes these issues by providing a hands-free, driver safe navigation solution that allows drivers to focus on driving.

In Depot - Delivery Connect provides all functionality for managing the return of packages to depots and the tracking point scans as packages travel through the network of depots and hubs.

Stock Management - Blackbay have capability for carrying out stock take functions including planned stock counting and adhoc stock take functions associated with delivery jobs and customers. The results of stock takes can be exported to external systems.

BYOD - Delivery Connect capability has been extended to the Smartphone device with the 'Bring your own device', (BYOD) application running on iOS, Android and Windows Phone operating systems.Integration to the core Delivery Connect backend server allows BYOD to leverage the existing server side functionality and provides the opportunity to maintain a hybrid fleet of Windows Mobile and Smartphone devices.

Dispatch - Dispatch of a job for item collection with items associated with the job or as an empty job; proof of pick-up (similar to PoD). Return to depot items that have been picked up or cannot be delivered.

Locate - The Transport and Logistics (T&L) sector needs access to information faster than any other business, as the work force is spread over a vast area and the cost to fix problems can increase quickly. Locate combines the GPS and address data held by Delivery Connect with Google Maps to provide key delivery information mapped in real-time.

Trip incl. Cross Dock -The Delivery Connect Trip functionality provides all the needed processes for tracking a trip from the point of pickup to docking at the depot through to the delivery process. It includes functionality for loading /unloading trucks and trailers, and integrates into the standard delivery flow. Additionally the built in Cross Dock capability also allows dock workers to move items through the warehouse faster, avoiding unnecessary storage and reducing movement-related costs.  This solution removes the need for printed unloading and loading paperwork, streamlining the process and providing a fast solution to locate items moved to temporary storage.

Expect - Notifications - Within Delivery Connect, all jobs can have an associated phone number, this may come from the customer record, or arrive via the API as part of receiving information from an external system. A sequence of messages can be sent to the recipient to keep them informed of progress of their delivery and to also delivery diversion.

Expect - Experience - The consumer portal element of Expect, allows consumers to track their deliveries in real-time, personalize information to make it easier to track, set delivery preferences for safe place locations or preferred neighbor and interact with their parcel in real-time to change delivery times, locations or communication.

Track & Trace - Customers can view a multitude of freight information in real-time: the status of an order; the assigned driver; the recipient; the drop off time; and other proof of delivery information, including the recipient’s signature all in real-time.

Management Suite

BI & Reporting - allows management to leverage newly collected data to make more informed decisions, enabling them to run their businesses more productively and efficiently. From individual reports, or a dashboard user interface, customers can see real-time data around first time delivery rates, on-time delivery performance, carded deliveries, customer interaction via SMS and safe place deliveries. Management can also deliver personalized reporting to customers on performance.

WorkSmart - Almost every driver in the Transport and Logistics industry needs a solution to capture information unique to the way they operate. This could be something simple for example, a vehicle condition checklist or complex, perhaps enabling the customer-facing drivers to ‘up -sell’ a product at the doorstep. WorkSmart questionnaires are designed by the business and inserted into the product process flow.

Delivery Approach - The engagement starts with a discussion about ‘current’ business process and a demonstration of the Delivery Connect product. The product is then configured to match the ‘future’ business processes desired.

Initiation and Planning - During this stage, Blackbay identifies the plan and dependencies to execute a successful implementation. Blackbay also verifies the roles and responsibilities for each team ensuring that clear communication channels are in place.

Explore and Select - Blackbay will run a detailed discovery phase with Subject Matter Experts to map out all the processes, which will drive the configuration for Delivery Connect. It will involve working through the installed solution, showing the possible options for meeting requirements and discussing the configuration options and future requirements.

Integration Design and Implementation - Once the configuration is completed (or at least started), Blackbay will deliver reference guides on integration to product, based on the processes and configuration. Blackbay will also provide API development support and services to help your IT staff or a 3rd Party complete the integration.
